WRITING YOUR RECORD: a 12 Week Online Workshop (Jan-March 2025)

WRITING YOUR RECORD: JAN 4th - MARCH 29th, 2025

Whether you've written fifty songs or just one, the challenge of creating a cohesive body of work will push you to refine your sound, explore your creative depths, and discover the themes and stories of your life that are most worth sharing. Learn the essential techniques to generate vibrant song ideas quickly, then refine and revise them until you are confident in every word, every chord, every melody. Our small, supportive community will witness you, hold you accountable, and cheer you on as you write your record.

The 12-week timeframe will invite you to laser-focus your musical energy, eliminate distractions, and access the deepest wells of creativity within you.  Spoiler alert: You will have to prioritize your music over other earthly delights for these 12 weeks. 

What you'll gain: 

Clear Vision: By narrowing your focus to create a single body of work, you'll gain a deeper understanding of your unique sound and artistic identity, allowing you to create a cohesive and evocative record. 

Artistic Exploration: Uncover the stories of your life worth telling and push your creative boundaries by writing from unconventional perspectives. 

Guidance: Receive personalized feedback and mentorship from me as I act as your musical cheerleader / creative mirror / song psychic. I will help you overcome creative hurdles and polish your record until you walk away thinking, "holy shit! I can't believe I did this." 

Community: This is a glowing, loving, supportive corner of the internet. Having the intimacy and accountability of a small group of 20 writers will help you finish songs faster and have more a-ha moments because we'll collectively encourage experimentation and creative bravery, reflect what's working, offer new possibilities, and hold each other's budding songs with tender care.

  • Supplementary 10-20 minute micro-lessons delivered for mid-week bursts of inspiration 
  • A 'hot seat' share in which you'll present your record to the group

  • Ongoing mentorship & support for outrunning your inner critic, finding the secret chord you seek, shining up your lyrics 
  • Multiple weekly Study Halls (online songwriting time for community and accountability)
  • A Discord community to connect with your fellow writers

Fee: $1400 with optional payment plans at checkout.

You’ll have lifetime access to the recordings of this workshop and the Discord class community.  If you cannot attend the Saturday classes live, you are still welcome to participate and watch at your own pace.  

Beginning SATURDAY, JANUARY 4th, we will meet 12 Saturdays in a row 11am PST / 2pm EST for a 2 hour class, which includes both lecture and prompted active writing time. 

Optional Study Halls will meet 2-3x a week. Some will be led by me and some by the amazing teaching assistant and Writing Your Record grad, Jade. We will choose the times based on collective scheduling requests.
